What’s Faster: A Ford or a Chevy

Every driver wants a truck that looks great, one that simply needs a few floor liners and a good washing every now and then to look its very best. Even more importantly, however, every driver wants a truck with some power—the ability to pick up speed quickly and to maintain that speed easily. For a long time, drivers with a “need for speed” have chosen Ford as the go-to maker of fast vehicles, but are Fords really the fastest?

car_liners.gif In a recent acceleration test performed by the Michigan State Police department in the United States, Ford’s engine beat out both Chevy and Dodge engines in terms of rate of acceleration and overall speed, proving that, as savvy truck owners have long known, Ford is the brand to choose for true power.

Drivers who own Fords don’t need to worry about speed and can focus on keeping their trucks looking great! Attractive floor liners and other stylish accessories to help your truck look great are available from Auto Truck Depot.

General Motors’ Former Global Marketing Chief On the Defensive

For a very long time, General Motors (GM) has been one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automobiles and automotive accessories. They were the people to go to if you needed anything from a new vehicle to a new fuel transfer tank. Recently, though, the company tanked its former global marketing chief, Joel Ewanick, drawing suspicion and concern over possible secrets or problems within the powerhouse company’s structure.

At the time of Ewanick’s release, GM simply said that Ewanick didn’t meet their expectations, though news outlets claimed Ewanick had botched a sponsorship deal the company had with Manchester United. Ewanick is stepping up to defend himself, however, claiming that the sponsorship deal was incredibly simplistic and that there was no room for “botching.”

Even while defending himself and in spite of his firing, Ewanick stood up for GM, saying he had no hard feelings toward the company. Regardless of how you feel about this issue, know that you can still get a great fuel transfer tank or any other automotive accessory, made by GM or not, from Auto Truck Depot.

Automotive Deliveries Delayed

Have you recently ordered some 3M paint protection film for your vehicle? Or maybe you ordered a new truck stereo or even a new truck altogether? Whatever the case may be, if your delivery is coming from the Port of Baltimore, it could be a little (or even a lot!) on the late side.
3m-small.jpg
Sadly, it has been reported that a dockworker strike in the area has caused several automotive deliveries to be delayed. While the companies mainly affected by the strike are BMW, Mazda, and Fiat, which all have distribution plants in the area, many other deliveries from around the country are getting delayed during the transit process because of the harrowing strike.

The strike featured a 2000 member walkout due to a contractual dispute between local workers and the Steamship Trade Association of Baltimore. Automotive manufacturers aren’t commenting on the strike (or on when you can expect that 3M paint protection film you ordered to arrive), but all are hoping it will end soon. Until it does (and hopefully after too!), you can check out the great accessories at Auto Truck Depot, a company that is unaffected by the strike and that won’t keep you waiting!

News from General Motors

2006 Chevrolet Impala photographed in USA. Cat...

Have you been busy shopping for fender flares or checking out the latest trucks to hit the market? If so, you might have missed the latest news from General Motors! The company just recently announced its plans to release a special “bifuel” Chevy Impala in 2015. The new Impala, the company says, will be capable of using either traditional fuel or natural gas.

While it’s obvious that the bifuel property of the vehicle can help drivers to improve their carbon footprints and protect the environment, there are other benefits to the soon-to-be-released bifuel Chevy Impala as well. The vehicle, General Motors claims, will be able to go for around 500 miles without needing to be refilled!

Just because the new Chevy Impala will have this great feature you don’t have to stop shopping for fender flares or anything else. The vehicle will look much like older models and will still be compatible with all the other great accessories you’ll find at Auto Truck Depot.

Who Took Home the “Truck of Texas” Honor?

Most truck enthusiasts, even those outside of the United States, are familiar with the annual “Truck of Texas” award. If you haven’t heard of the award, it’s given annually by the Texas Auto Writers Association to the truck that best embodies the power and “larger than life” attitude of the state. This year’s winner was the 2014 Ram 1500, which features some massive cargo baskets and ample room all around.
RAM was also lucky enough to win “Best Powertrain,” thanks to its “green” 3 liter engine, and “Best Technology,” thanks in large part to its new rear coil suspension system. Whether you live in Texas or not, it’s obvious that this year’s “truck of Texas” is definitely worth checking out, particularly if you want something roomy that makes transporting cargo easy.

Of course, you don’t have to buy the new RAM to get great cargo capacity; all you really have to do is opt for some cargo baskets from Auto Truck Depot. If you do, you can turn any vehicle into a cargo-carrying machine!

Alfred Morris’ Classic Car

Some people want to have the newest, fastest automobile on the market and, as a result, trade in their old rides as soon as the new models come out. Then, on the opposite end of the spectrum, you have people who develop deep, sentimental attachments to their automobiles and who seem to hold onto them forever. Surprisingly, Washington Redskins’ running back, Alfred Morris, falls into the second group of people.

Though Morris could afford to own just about any vehicle he wants, he has opted to keep his old school 1991 Mazda 626. At least, the car, which Morris says was his very first, used to be “old school.” A dealership in Brown’s area took and refurbished the car for him. Adding new brake controllers and just about every upgrade you can think of, the car is now in pristine condition, and Morris couldn’t be happier.

Loyalty paid off for Morris, and it can pay off for you! Give your old vehicle a new feel with brand new brake controllers or any other accessory from Auto Truck Depot!

Get Ready for Winter Weather!

Ready or not, winter is on its way, and it’s time to winterize your work van equipment! One good item to buy for use in your work van this winter is a good set of all-weather floor mats. These mats are designed to keep your work van’s floor completely dry. Even if you’re stomping into your work van in snow-covered boots, these special weather-proof mats guarantee that you won’t have to deal with a soggy, soaking floor; the mats simply absorb the moisture and then dry quickly.

You might think that floor mats that constantly absorb moisture and dry would wear out pretty quickly, but that’s not the case if you buy quality floor mats specifically made for winter weather. Such floor mats are guaranteed not to mold, curl, become overly saturated, blister, or crack! In fact, leading brands can actually hold up to a full quart of water or more!

Find great floor mats and other awesome winter-ready work van equipment at Auto Truck Depot. #CalgaryWorkVanEquipment

Get Things Started!

Imagine this scenario: it’s a hot day. You’re tired, you’ve been outside for what feels like forever, and all you can think about is getting back to your vehicle and cranking up the air conditioner. You can see your truck in the parking lot, and you hope that window visor has done its job and kept your vehicle from turning into a sweltering sweat box. You know your auto’s interior will still be hot once you climb inside, but you comfort yourself with the fact that it will only take a few minutes for the air conditioner to start working.

While this scenario might not sound all that awful, you should know that there’s an easier way! If you had a remote start device, you could start your car from far away, and you could also control what features of your car to turn on. So, for example, on a sweltering hot day, you could turn your air conditioner on and have it working by the time you arrive at your vehicle. A remote start device coupled with a window visor guarantees a cool, comfortable car with no waiting. Talk about relief! Get your remote starter from Auto Truck Depot today and enjoy a “no sweat” arrival at your vehicle. #CalgaryWindowVisor

The Brilliance of Bedslides

Do you already have truck grille guards and every other accessory you can possibly think of installed on your truck? No matter how many truck accessories you have, if you don’t have bedslides, then you’re missing out. While not the most popular or well-known truck accessories, bedslides are where it’s at!

Just what are these awesome accessories? Bedslides are designed to enable your truck bed to slide forwards and backwards to suit your needs. So, imagine you’ve got your truck bed full of groceries, packed all the way to the back, after a major trip to the grocery store. Without bedslides installed, you’d likely have to crawl into the truck bed and scramble to retrieve each bag. With bedslides, however, you can simply slide your truck bed forward, grab the items you need, and then be on your way !

Bedslides are the perfect complement to truck grille guards and all your other accessories, and you can find them and anything else your truck needs at Auto Truck Depot. #CalgaryTruckGrillGuard

Must-Have Truck Accessories

There are some truck accessories, such as truck canopies, which you simply can’t do without—not if you demand the ultimate in appearance and performance from your truck. Side bars, for example, are one accessory that shouldn’t be overlooked.
TruckCanopies.jpg
These bars, as the name implies, attach to the side of your truck and protrude slightly from it. Don’t worry; they look sleek and stylish and won’t detract from your truck’s appearance. In fact, they might even make your truck more attractive! But, what exactly are these side bars, also called nerf bars, for?

They’re to help you and others get into and out of your truck safely and easily. In addition to great accessories like side bars and truck canopies, you should also consider investing in other practical accessories, such as bed liners and bedslides. Accessories that serve to make your truck more functional are always the smartest choice, and you can find such accessories (and more!) at Auto Truck Depot. #CalgaryTruckCanopies

Lighting Made Easy

It’s very likely that you’ve found yourself in this situation more than a time or two: You’re driving late at night, and you can’t see very well. In an effort to improve your vision, you turn on your brights, which work great. You’re seeing everything clearly…and then a car comes by. You flick off your lights out of courtesy and flick them back on again once the car passes. If you’re like most people, you probably wouldn’t mind flicking your lights on and off if you didn’t have to do it constantly—if cars weren’t approaching every few seconds or minutes.

Well, believe it or not, there’s an easier way to burn your headlights now! SmartBeam recently released its Lighting Assist technology. The special Lighting Assist device is made up of a Gentex Smart Mirror that reacts when it sees a car coming your way; the mirror cues your lights to dim to the appropriate brightness and, once the other vehicle passes, puts your lights back on the setting you’ve selected. All of this happens automatically, without you lifting a finger or taking your eyes off the road!

While you probably already have a wish list of truck accessories, a list that likely includes truck bull bars, stylish seat covers, and everything in between, you’re strongly encouraged to go ahead and add the awesome new Lighting Assist device to your must-have list! #CalgaryTruckBullBars

Why Trucks Rule

Are you trying to decide whether or not you wish to buy a truck? If you’ve got the choice between a truck and other types of vehicles, you are strongly encouraged to go for the truck; trucks beat out standard cars and SUVs every time. They are, for example, capable of going where standard vehicles can’t go. You can take your truck down the road, in the mud, or deep into the woods; no matter where you take it, it will do just fine.
Trucks are also a great choice for safely traveling through winter weather. Strong, hefty truck tires can guide you safely through even the deepest snow, and you can choose from a wide range of snow plows that attach right to the front of your truck to easily clear your way.

And, as if you needed another reason to love trucks, you can buy lots of great accessories, such as truck boxes and truck box liners to go with them. If you do make the smart decision to purchase a truck, know that you can find truck box liners and other great accessories at Auto Truck Depot. #CalgaryTruckBoxLiners

Mobileye Makes Driving Easier

truck_box.jpgAre you someone who loves truck accessories? If so, you’ve probably already purchased all the basics, like a sturdy truck box and stylish mud flaps. Chances are, however, that you don’t have the Mobileye driving assistance device. In fact, you most definitely don’t unless you’ve got a special “connection,” since the device won’t be released until sometime next year.

The Mobileye device, which is set to be included on the newest version of the Ford Explorer, is a special product that features a small camera. The camera “watches” the road as you drive and records your distance from nearby cars and other objects. Thanks to its measuring capabilities, the device will be able to tell if you’re drifting into another lane, something that can easily happen if you’re not paying attention to the road or are falling asleep. No matter what the cause of your drift, the Mobileye device will let you know that it’s happening by buzzing, flashing a visual warning, and/or sending a message to your Smartphone.

While nothing beats a truck box and other classic truck accessories, some of the newer products coming to the market are definitely worth exploring. #CalgaryTruckBox

General Motors Ups the Price Tag on 2014 Models

General Motors (GM) recently released a statement that it is raising the prices for two of its 2014 models: the GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado. While most automobile manufacturers rarely advertise hikes in price, GM is using the price uptick as a clever marketing scheme. Prices have been raised by around $1,500 per model, but buyers who act fast and make their purchases before October can take advantage of more than $1,500 in special savings offers and incentives.
Even with the savings opportunities, GM is making a bold move by raising its prices, especially when most of the competitor’s vehicles for the year are available at lower prices than these two models from GM. Plus, it’s not just the high price tag that buyers have to worry about; they also have to worry about buying air springs and other accessories for their new rides.

Fortunately, whether you need air springs or anything else for your new vehicle, whether it be a GM or not, you can find what you’re looking for at Auto Truck Depot of Calgary!

The Best Accessories for Your Truck

There are many excellent advantages to owning a truck. One of them is the fact that there are so many wonderful truck bed accessories and general truck accessories available today. The fun doesn’t end there, however. Another excellent item to have, for example, is a grill guard. You can also get some great tie-downs to make transporting items easier and safer. These and a host of other awesome items are available at Auto Truck Depot.

Traveling with a Trailer

If you’re about to start driving with a trailer for the first time or even for the first time in a while, it’s important to remember the basics of trailer-towing. To start with, make sure you’ve got a quality trailer and, even more importantly, that you’re using only the best trailer hitches. Cheap, poor quality trailer hitches could cause your trailer to become detached, causing some serious (and dangerous!) problems for you. The last thing you want to do is cause an accident with your trailer or lose all of your possessions when your trailer suddenly comes unhitched.

Also, remember to slow down your speed! You’re carrying extra cargo, and you need to accommodate for it. Be particularly adamant about slowing down when making turns. It’s also wise to give yourself ample stopping space—more than you normally would. If you’re smart and remember that you can’t drive the same way with a trailer as you do without one, all your travels should be happy (and safe!).

Want a Terrific Truck Bed?

TonneauCovers.jpgThere are many wonderful advantages to owning and driving a truck. You’re higher up off the ground, enabling you to see anything and everything, and your truck bed allows you to easily transport cargo and other goods. Truck beds, in fact, are one of the very best things about trucks, but it’s important that you do your part to make your truck bed as terrific as it possibly can be. That includes protecting your truck bed from scratches and dings, which you can easily do with the right tonneau covers.

Tonneau covers, such as the Access Roll Up Tonneau Cover from Auto Truck Depot, tend to be very affordable and to prove incredibly useful.

You can also do a little truck decorating if you want! Consider adding in some mud flaps that feature a cartoon character you like, a band name, or anything that showcases your personal style. And, of course, keep your truck bed clean and clutter-free, for a neater, more streamlined appearance.

Reasons to Choose a Sprinter Van

So, you’re thinking about purchasing a Sprinter Van? If so, you should know that this is a very wise choice! Sprinter vans are built to last and come with a host of other advantages. To begin with, vans are super-easy to get into and to get out of. Unlike trucks, which usually require some major stepping and maneuvering to climb in and out, vans tend to be low to the ground, making for easier exit and entry without sacrificing space.

Another great feature of Sprinter vans is the amount of people (and items!) they can carry. Vans are big and roomy, and you can easily sit as many as seven or eight people in the average Sprinter van. Plus, there’s plenty of room for cargo, work equipment, and more, all without leaving you feeling cramped. And, as an added bonus, don’t forget the huge line of Sprinter products that you have at your disposal. You can find affordably priced Sprinter products through Auto Truck Depot.

Drive Safely This Winter

Winter is just around the corner and, before you know it, there’s likely going to be snow on the ground and dangerous ice on the roads. To ensure that you brave the snow, ice, and cold successfully, it’s a wise idea to start making plans now to make your vehicle safer and more reliable this winter. Many drivers will choose to invest in snow plows, for example. Snow plows, such as the Snow Pusher from Auto Truck Depot, are a great way to clear a path and get your winter driving started off right, but there are many other options available, such as ice scrapers and tire chains. Plus, there are a few general safety tips to keep in mind as well.

When driving on icy roads, for example, it’s always wise to go slower than usual and to keep an additional amount of space between you and other drivers to account for any accidental sliding. You can brush up on more of the basics by doing some searching online or taking a winter driving course.

Enders-Stevens takes Husky Liners to semifinals in Charlotte

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Enders-Stevens takes Husky Liners
to semifinals in Charlotte
CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 15) - Erica Enders-Stevens and her Husky Liners Pro Stock team made some gains at the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals on Sunday at zMax Dragway.

Enders-Stevens moved up one spot in the Pro Stock points standings to eighth with a semifinal finish in the first race of the Countdown to the Championship, and she also gained ground on several drivers still in front of her in the points.

"We've always got to look at the positives," Enders-Stevens said. "At this moment we're the underdog, and we've got some fighting to do to get this car up to the performance level of the rest of the pack. Being back in the car and getting seat time is only going to make it better, and I know that."

Sunday's performance was truly a team effort, as Enders-Stevens and her Cagnazzi Racing team were both on top of their game. She overpowered one opponent and then won another round on a holeshot.

"Today was a good start to the Countdown," Enders-Stevens said. "A semifinal finish is nothing to be ashamed of. There are a lot of guys who would have traded spots with us today."

Enders-Stevens moved within 10 points of seventh place and is 109 points - a little more than five rounds - behind leader Mike Edwards.

"I'm glad to have made up some ground on a couple of the guys ahead of me," Enders-Stevens said. "The good news is in three days we go to Dallas. We'll get another shot at it and we'll keep fighting."

Enders-Stevens kicked off her return to full-time Pro Stock competition with a win over Rodger Brogdon. Her pass was 6.578 seconds at 210.28 mph to defeat Brogdon's 6.626 at 208.71 mph.

That matched her up against defending Pro Stock champion Allen Johnson, and though her good friend was quicker, Enders-Stevens scored the victory. The difference was her .029-second reaction time that gave her a .031-second advantage. That was enough to overcome Johnson's pass of 6.567 seconds at 211.16 mph, which was slightly quicker than her run of 6.586 seconds at 209.36 mph.

"That was nice," Enders-Stevens said. "I came back and had a meeting with Dave (Connolly, her crew chief alongside Tommy Utt) and went over some things with the car. I'm always up on the wheel, but that was an important round for our team. I love Brutus (Johnson) and he's my best friend out here, but when the helmets go on, I'm ready to rip his throat out. That's the mindset I took, and he left the door open for us.

"She then faced No. 1 qualifier Jason Line, who led the whole race with a run of 6.579 seconds at 210.73 mph, beating Enders-Stevens' 6.597 at 210.05 mph.Next up for Enders-Stevens and the Husky Liners team is the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals next weekend in Dallas.

Your Guide to an Accessible Vehicle

If you or someone you love has recently developed some kind of handicap or a mobility issue, you might think that your truck is too big and too hard to get into to be of use any longer. Depending on the handicap or other issue, however, that’s not necessarily true. There are a handful of things you can do to make your truck more accessible for all passengers. If passengers have a difficult time getting into or out of the vehicle because of their limitations, for example, there are many different running boards on the market that can make entry and exit safer and easier.

Your options don’t end with running boards, however. No, there are many other wonderful products you can look into, such as wheelchair lifts, hand controls for easier driving, and so much more. You can find many of these types of items at Auto Truck Depot.

Keep Your Vehicle Clean and Pristine

suvMudFlaps.jpg
Your vehicle should be something that you take pride in, something that you feel good driving and showing off to everyone you pass. It’s hard to feel good about a vehicle that’s dirty on the inside and marred with scratches and dings on the outside, however. That’s why it’s a good idea to take steps to keep your vehicle looking its very best. One great thing you can do to keep dirt off your vehicle and to keep debris from flinging up and dinging its backside is to install mud flaps. You can get mud flaps through Auto Truck Depot; in fact, the seller offers the Dually Mud Flap, which is one of the best products around.

Another simple tip is to avoid eating in your vehicle, and to hold everyone who rides in it to the same standards. Not only will this keep your vehicle’s interior free from stains and splotches, but it will also keep all those candy bar wrappers and fast food containers away, leaving you with a vehicle you can be proud of.

Drive Safely by Utilizing Your Vehicle’s Lighting Correctly

Think back to when you first learned to drive. If you’re like most people, you were probably a young teen, and an instructor or parent likely taught you all the basics before letting you climb behind the wheel of the car. Hopefully, these basics included how to properly use a vehicle’s lights.  If it’s been a while since you were a driving student, however, you might have forgotten a few of those basic rules, and it’s never a bad idea to brush up on them.

D2 LED Light Wide at Autotruckdepot.ca
For starters, you’ll want to make sure that your vehicle has ample lighting, including all of the required lights. And, of course, you’ll want to make sure that all of those lights are in good working order. If you regularly drive off-road or are still having trouble seeing, it may be a good idea to think about adding in little extras, such as light bars. You can find light bars and other wonderful lighting accessories at Auto Truck Depot.
