Choosing a Bed Length

Are you in the market for a new pickup truck? If so, you are liking going to hear dealers and other sellers talk about bed length. As the name implies, bed length simply refers to how long (or how short) the truck’s bed is. If you’ve never had a truck before, you may think the length of the bed doesn’t really make a difference and you may be unaware of the fact that truck enthusiasts are usually separated into two staunch camps—one in favor of longer beds and the other in favor of shorter beds.

Most trucks will come in around three different bed lengths. A good rule of thumb is to choose a shorter bed length if you’re worried about your ability to control the truck or if you don’t really plan to haul items that often, and to choose a longer bed length if you know you plan to haul heavy-duty goods and are comfortable driving your vehicle.

Keep in mind that many accessories, such as truck canopies, will have to be chosen based on your truck’s bed length.  So, after you’ve selected a truck and a bed length, make sure you know the exact length when you place orders for truck canopies or other accessories.

Tonneau Covers

Did you know that trucks and cars are broken into or even stolen every day? It should go without saying, of course, that you should always lock your truck doors and roll up your windows before leaving it unattended. Keep Your Trailer Safe

If you have a trailer, then you probably already know that trailer hitches are necessary to haul it safely. While you should definitely invest in a good, strong hitch, one that’s appropriately matched to your trailer and vehicle and that won’t allow your trailer to come unhitched, it’s also important to follow some other safety measures too.

Did you know, for example, that many trailers feature a battery that can work to kick in your trailer’s brakes in the event of an accidental detachment? If your trailer has this feature (check to see), then you’ll definitely want to make every effort to keep your trailer’s battery fully charged.

It’s also important to set your trailer’s tongue weight correctly. If you haven’t done this, then it won’t matter if you’re using the most high quality trailer hitches available or not. In order for your trailer to stay balanced and upright, the tongue weight should be approximately fifteen percent of the trailer’s overall weight.

Keep Your Vehicle Beautiful, Inside and Out
